The energy is back. That pull I used to feel with streaming — the one where you show up before you've even decided to — it's back. And I want to talk about what it's telling me.
It keeps saying the same thing: now is the only time.
Not when the camera is better. Not when the setup is ready. Not when you've figured out the platform or the audience or the algorithm. Now. Because the people who would connect with what you're making don't care about the lens. If it's real, they'll feel it through a cracked screen.
That's the whole secret.
I've also been thinking about what it means to clean the slate. There's this thing younger people do on Instagram — they post something, and then delete it. Not because it failed. Just because they're done with it. One photo. A statement. Then the next one comes and the previous one goes.
I used to think: why throw that away? But I get it now. What you're communicating isn't just the content — it's the context. If the old stuff no longer reflects who you are, it's noise. It makes the signal harder to read.
So the channels are getting stripped back. Not out of shame — out of clarity.
For anyone trying to figure out where to even begin, here's the short version:
• You're visual (photos, video, movement) → YouTube, TikTok, streaming
• You're verbal (writing, ideas, threads) → Bluesky, long form, newsletters
• You're somewhere in between → pick the one that feels less like a chore and start there
One platform. Your core. Everything else is extra.
One last thing. In college I spent three months building a platform for photographers — thought out, designed, believed in. Then filed away because there was always something next.
I think it's time to find that plan again. Not because the world needs another photography platform. But because that instinct — building a home for creators who don't quite fit anywhere else — never actually left. It just took a different shape.
That shape is Nova Creates Now.
And if you don't have a home for what you're making, come find me. We'll build it. That's not a metaphor.
