So many things happened this week I don't even know where to begin. The Flow Arts school is through its first month and with 100 euro short on the rent, we did very well for the first month. Now that the gears have gone into motion I've started to gather a team and divided tasks and roles. Now that space opened up to think about other things I have been up almost every night unable to sleep, writing and thinking about the curriculum, structure and marketing plans. I'm so inspired to work on this but also realize the lack of sleep is making me miss some details here and there so I'm trying to slow down as much as I can to stay as healthy as possible.
It's just quite the thing to work on one of the biggest passions and dreams of a lifetime and so I'm so grateful for being able to do this. The next steps for me are to be a bit more in Amsterdam as I'm working on the website / platform that will provide the digital space for the world of Flow Arts. (flowarts.nl) We will start a 'rent a prop' side hustle for the school to raise more money and provide people the opportunity to try props for a bit. As timing is on my side, an opportunity rose to share an atelier space in Amsterdam with the Bloom Boom agency and together with 2 flow friends, we're moving in. The goal is to rent out the props from there and to start building props together.
Where I took a bit of a leap of faith taking this spot I just wished for a bit more of a steady income that didn't involve me traveling all the time to gigs and work for the low prices the entertainment market is at right now.
My wish was granted only 2 days later.. A friend of mine tipped her local bike repairshop in Amsterdam about me as he needs someone to upkeep the website and social media. I'm hired for the next year and a half for a steady rate per month… YAY!! It seems like dreams are coming true and I get what I need to keep building the school without asking too much money from it in the start up phase.
So what's next? I'm rethinking my structure to my life and week and for most of you know, I will say it again for those that have not gotten the memo yet! The focus is on Flow Arts (suprise.. haha) and so the DJLuminousNova channel is live once a week, mostly on Sundays but as I joined the team 'Together we Grow' with a lot of amazing DJ's in there I want to see if I can set up a collab once a week with one of the team members. If anyone wants to help me with this as sort of a 'collab manager' to help me have less channels of communication, I would be open to this. I'm not really making it through all my messages sometimes and I do ask for your patience and understanding for this is one of the most crucial phases for Flow Arts Netherlands and somehow I feel responsible for it and will give it my all.
My dream is to combine both the Twitch and Flow Arts world where at our jams I would love to schedule in twitch DJ's and show them on the screens during jams or events. This way the DJ is not a centerpoint but we are able to dance free and provide a new way for DJ's to be part of events without having to travel.
My head is bursting with ideas and most days I have a little cry gratitude moment to be honest. For so many years everything has been building up towards all of this and so that I can't sleep, make a lot of sense to me but yea, after a week, I'm running a bit low on fumes and ask for some understanding towards perhaps not being that much on top of messages or Twitch schedule. I do NEED to flow and so once a week I will be on Twitch to dance with and for you all.
